Royston Noell
Royston Noell is a proud Thanakwith and Wagadagam man who grew up in the small remote community of Mapoon – right at the tip of Far North Queensland. Before being announced as the inaugural Australian Idol 2023 winner, following the TV talent show’s 14-year Australian hiatus, Australia first met Royston during his first audition where he performed Sam Smith’s ‘I’m Not The Only One’, making him an instant fan favourite.
With sublime, soul-stirring vocals, a powerhouse presence and an attitude that unashamedly celebrates loving the skin you’re in, Royston is finding that his own rise to the top has empowered other young artists with an important message: If you can see it, you can be it.
Royston quickly established himself as a clear contender, thanks to his consistently outstanding Australian Idol performances, before going on to win the eighth season of this popular TV talent show.
Recognised for his interpretative nous, Royston channels his own hardships in order to portray complex emotions through song. He’s passionate about giving back to his community, supporting youth to pursue their passions, speaking out for rising social communities, and leading by example to empower future generations.
