After being invited by Stevie Wonder to sing at his Daughter Sophia’s 16th birthday, Stevie accompanied Gary playing music from one of their favourite artists, Donny Hathaway. With a career full of highlights, Gary returned to the spotlight with a brand new album, Sam Cooke The Music, released through Sony Music in 2022. The album (produced by Justin Stanley who is best known for his work with Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Jet, Mark Ronson, and Noiseworks) is Gary’s unique tribute to an American icon – the man known as the ‘King of Soul’ and a key figure in the American Civil Rights movement – who died in December, 1964 at age 33. The album is packed to the brim with new recordings of the music Sam Cooke made timeless like ‘Wonderful World,’ ‘Bring It On Home,’ ‘A Change Is Gonna Come,’ ‘You Send Me,’ ‘Unchained Melody,’ ‘Another Saturday Night’ and much more featuring duets with Jimmy Barnes and Guy Sebastian. In 2023, Gary will continue to tour the country with his live Sam Cooke show, allowing listeners to sit back and enjoy this astonishing collection of songs delivered from an unforgettable voice.
